The Impact of 5G and Edge Computing on Industrial Automation
Abstract
The deployment of 5G networks and edge computing is transforming industrial automation by enabling ultra-low latency communication and real-time data processing. This paper explores the role of 5G in smart manufacturing, autonomous robotics, and industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications. We analyze case studies from various industries, highlighting improvements in operational efficiency, predictive maintenance, and supply chain optimization. The study also discusses challenges such as cybersecurity risks, infrastructure costs, and the need for interoperability standards in next-generation industrial systems.
